Privacy Policy

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us directly, and a small amount of information generated by using the app:

• Account information: your name, email address, and password, plus your gender and profile photo if you choose to add them.
• Pet information: species, breed, gender, birthday, microchip ID, color/markings, allergies, and spay/neuter status for each pet you add.
• Activity & health records: the care events you log (vet visits, medications, vaccinations, grooming, weight checks, surgeries, lab results), including any notes and files you attach to them.
• Photos: profile and pet photos you choose to upload from your photo library.
• Reminder contacts: the names and email addresses of people you add to receive reminders about your pets, such as family members or a pet sitter.
• Device & notification data: a push notification token for your device, so we can deliver notifications you’ve enabled.

How we use this information

• To create and maintain your account and pet profiles.
• To show you the care history and upcoming due dates for each pet.
• To remind you before an activity is due, by email and by push notification if you’ve allowed notifications.
• To email the reminder contacts you add. We first ask them to confirm, then send them reminders only for the pets and kinds of care you’ve shared. We use their email address for nothing else, and every reminder email includes a link to stop them.
• To keep the service secure and to fix problems when they come up.

We do not use your pet’s health information, or any other information you give us, to show you ads, and we do not sell your information to third parties.

How we share information

We share information only with the service providers that help us run FurBuddy: Supabase (database hosting), Cloudflare R2 (photo and file storage), Resend (email delivery), and Expo, which passes notifications to Apple’s and Google’s push notification services. These providers only receive what they need to do that job, and aren’t permitted to use it for anything else.

We may also disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of FurBuddy or our users.

Data storage & security

Your session credentials are stored securely on your device. Your pet and account data is stored on our servers using industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using encryption in transit and access controls on our systems.

Your choices & rights

• You can edit or delete any pet, activity, or photo at any time.
• You can turn push notifications off in your device settings.
• You can delete your account at any time from Edit Profile in the app. This permanently deletes your account, pets, activity history, photos and files, reminder contacts, and registered devices.
• You can request a copy of your data by contacting us below.
• If someone added you as a reminder contact, you can stop their reminders at any time using the link in any reminder email.

Children’s privacy

FurBuddy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
